I would like to thank Mr. Augustine Eguavoen for inviting this young man, Calvin Bassey and capping him. It was moronic to have invited him last year and not capping him. Who knows we could have lost him like Brazil lost Diego Carlos to Spain after inviting him and having him dressed but not capping him? Kudos to you, Mr. Eguaevoen. And not forgetting to thank Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo, both of whom I’m sure helped in convincing him to take his chances with Nigeria. And of course, thanking his family for making it possible for him to switch to Nigeria. We have a gem on our hands! Just switch him permanently to the left side of our central defense and have him partner Olisa Ndah a ball-playing center-back. Then find a talented young left-back to give Zaidu Sanusi competition at the left-back position.

The way and manner we express our thoughts can lead to various interpretations. I am still trying to figure out why you gave Bassey a starting shirt in your imaginary team, gave Olisa Ndah a starting shirt and then rather than give Zaidu Sanusi a starting shirt in this your team(which he obviously deserves)you decided to ” look for a young talented guy to give Sanusi competition”.
Are you saying FC Porto’s first choice left back, whose effort won the Portuguese league for Porto isn’t good enough for Super Eagles? Of course every position on the field of play deserves competition, but you dashed some people starting shirts and demand competition for another. It is well.
I hope our Ghanaian friends are watching the Europa League final where Joe Aribo has just painted the pitch green-white-green.
