Much improved play with neat passing and purposeful football. Missed alot of chances tho….They should have been easily 5-0 up. Onumanu and Kanu need to communicate better….Been a very good performance so far.

Better midfield compared to our previous two games.. That Christy girl has finally replaced chiwelu the no 10. I love her ball distribution. KANU should take it easy and take her chances.. Onumonu is a good no9 very strong, I think she is Best no9 in the tournament in terms of strength but she has been unlucky with goals ,maybe she will score some goals in the second half.. In all a good first half

Cameroon it is then.  This is where we will see if there’s really been improvement.

Apparently even a loss in the quarterfinals does not end ones world cup dream.  Check out this format for the intercontinental playoffs for the last 3 slots.  I kinda like it

Yep the Intercontinental playoffs but I’d rather finish fourth and go to WC than the Intercontinental playoff

Funny enough I was just thinking the same earlier today. The intercontinental playoff tournament in February next year in New Zealand comes across like an interesting tournament to participate in. It in itself will serve as a preparatory contest for the team that eventually qualifies.

To be honest this performance is flat due to their lack of cutting edge in front of goal.full analysis to come.

Cut them some slack.  They were clearly miles ahead of the Burundians and in no way got out of first gear after scoring the 4th.  There are more important games ahead and the coach rested a bunch of key players early today.  It was cruise control. They’re slowly growing into the tournament and I do agree that the next game will be a true test of their mettle.

I did see some better things today.

Yeah the performance was an improvement compared to the last two games but a team of Nigeria’s stature should be able to be more professional in front of goal and not waste guilt-edged chances like tonight abi u no like 5-0,6-0 again why settle for less when you know the team can do more.

Some people will remain pessimistic, no matter what. The same Burindi that South Africa won with a goals margin of 2 is the team we just walloped. The same Cameroon that played a draw with Togo and Zambia is the team some people are looking forward to how they will expose the Falcons. We need to give these girls some credit.

I am worried the coach relied too much on craps and today’s match shows we don’t have a bench. What a pity?

The Cameroun attack is very mobile and Onumonu shows the kind of flop she is. That one should not start against Cameroun. Who will now score against Cameroun except Monday Gift?

    17. Ololo on July 10, 2022 11:15 pm

The coach removed his best players immediately after the start of the second half that was why our play went very low, the MacLean didn’t do well at all, look at the chances she wasted, Vivian as well was very average not in the level of ajibade, gift Monday impressed me for a player based in Nigerian league , but she doesn’t have a good final ball..

In all the tested players shows us More reasons they should sit on the bench.

For the intercontinental game only two slot are given to Africa, I wonder how they would select them from the 4 quarter final games

Omomuno a flop , you obviously didn’t watch the game.. She wasn’t just lucky today as most balls for her were either not perfectly placed or she was in an offside position and left it for a better player..

We should encourage these players, indeed Nigeria media is negative as the coach said and criticize too easily..

Is it the MacLean that will bench her someone who was missing ball like deseerr of super eagles..

Good game gift Monday and efih these are the only new additions that impressed me

@ Ololo take it easy on Onumonu. She is not a flop but a very good player. She may not have scored today, but her contribution to the team and the goals scored by other players was immense. This is what you need in a striker. When a striker does not score he or she should be able to provide others with the final balls to score. That was the case of Onumonu today.

The coach needs to find a way to play both Kanu and Onumonu upfront. Their combination is very good and frightening. The coach just needs to field the younger players in the remaining matches and Falcons will be good to go. They really need the younger and fitter players against Cameroun. Especially in the midfield.

Don’t mind them.. I don’t see any no9 in this tournament that is in her level… That onumonu is a good player, it was a waste to have her play the second half when Cameroon is our next game.. We were 3 goals up in the first half why play your best legs for a game that you have already won what if she gets injured like oshonla… Did you watch her goal against Botswana, world class goal…

Onumanu should have been played as the top striker in the game against SA while Oshoala should have been drafted to the wings…This was one tactical blunders Waldrum made in the first game…Playing her wife was a mistake but we move……Next Cameroon. Good luck to the Falcons.

I noticed in the first half that Nigeria has a number of very skillful players who can hold the ball very well. Okobi, Efih, Ajibade, Payne, Uchechi and even Ordega who didn’t get to play are all food ball jugglers. That’s a plus. But against Cameroon, we don’t need to dwell too much on the ball because they are a very physical and robust side.

There is nothing special about the Cameroonian ladies from what I’ve seen so far in this competition. In fact, if we can take care of Ajara, who happens to be their tormentor-in-cheif, neutralising them will be easy.

My major concern is Super Falcon’s wastage in front of goal. Not really funny. We can’t afford to do this against Cameroon. Things are gettimg tighter by the day. If we don’t take our chances, it may come back to haunt us. Some should talk to Onumonu and Kanu. Both are guilty of gross wastage on Sunday.

I’m also very much concerned about Ebi and Ohale. I think we need Plumptre to replace one of them. The 2 girls are very slow, can easily be beaten by younger, faster attackers for pace. That’s the major reason they both struggled against SA. If we don’t come up with a better defensive plan, we may be in trouble as the competition progresses. But I see us winning the Cup again if we dismiss Cameroon. It we be an awesome morale boister for the girls.
