Udinese forward Nicolò Zaniolo has praised Maduka Okoye for his outstanding performance in the club’s 0-0 draw against Parma in Serie A.
The Zebras ended their six-game losing streak with a determined display at the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Wednesday night, with Okoye playing a decisive role in securing a valuable point.
The Nigerian international produced a crucial save in the 69th minute, denying Adrian Bernabé from the penalty spot to preserve Udinese’s chances of taking something from the encounter.
The shutout also marked Okoye’s first clean sheet in the Italian top flight this season. Before the match, the 26-year-old had conceded 18 goals in nine games and had been unable to keep a clean sheet in each of his previous eight appearances.

“It’s not the first time Maduka has saved us. I love him; he’s a good person and a fantastic goalkeeper. Today, thanks to him, we broke our losing streak and got a point away from home that moves us up the table. Now we have to focus on Roma,” Zaniolo told Udinese’s official website.
Udinese Difficult Start
The Italian forward also acknowledged the team’s difficult start to the campaign, pointing to injuries and costly mistakes as factors behind their struggles. However, he remained optimistic about Udinese’s prospects as more players return to full fitness.
“We’ve gotten off to a poor start to the season, partly due to injuries and partly due to a few too many mistakes, but we have a long road ahead, and with a full squad, we can have a great season,” he added.
Eager For Italy Chance
Zaniolo also spoke about his relationship with Italy head coach Roberto Mancini, crediting him for helping launch his career and expressing his determination to regain his best form.
“I’m always in touch with coach Mancini; he launched me, and I owe everything to him. I’m happy to be back on the pitch, now I have to find my best form,” he said.
