Abd’Allah Relishes Pride Of Enyimba’s Oriental Derby Win Vs Rangers

Enyimba’s coach Usman Abd’Allah is delighted to see his side get firm grip of a play-off spot in NPFL Group A after trouncing Enugu Rangers 3-1 in Sunday’s oriental derby in Aba, reports Completesports.com.

Ifeanyi Anaemena scored a brace with headers and Beninese midfielder, Jean-Marie Guera, tapped in Enyimba’s third to belittle Godwin Aguda’s incredible second half goal for Rangers as the People’s Elephant claimed the bragging rights against their Eastern rivals in the Oriental derby.

The win also extended Enyimba’s unbeaten run to 11 games.

Abd’Allah’s men are now second in Group A with 28 points from 17 games three points adrift leaders Rangers.

“We came out searching for the three points (and ) we got it with a lot of goals; but it’s not the goals that matter to me. It’s the three points,” Abd’Allah said in his post-match interview.

“We got the points and now we are going up, trying to confirm our qualification (for the playoffs).

“And I’m happy with the performances of the boys. They played very well. It was an explosive game.

“There are lots of things behind this game, a lot of history behind it, so it’s a match of pride. It’s always that way.

“The satisfaction is beyond beating Rangers. It’s about the overall performance of the team.

“Even though I think we have some work to do in the defence. We’ll keep on working till we achieve what we want.”

Enyimba will face Rivers United in their next game in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

Abd’Allah’s Enyimba are five points above their midweek’s hosts.
