Abraham Ready To Accept Invitation, Represent England At Senior Level

Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham has made a decision over his international future and will accept an England callup should one come.

Abraham, 21, according to a report in Telegraph.co.uk, will reject Nigeria and commit himself to England if he gets a call-up from the Three Lions manager, Gareth Southgate for Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

Southgate is expected to unveil his squad for both games on Thursday.

Abraham has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season with Chelsea, scoring seven goals in seven league appearances for the Blues.

The 21-year-old represented England from U-18 level, and featured at the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Poland.

He has also featured in non-competitive matches for the senior team.

His parents are both from Nigeria and his father is close friends with Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick.

    You can go abeg!

NFF just give us a NIGERIA vs ENGLAND friendly. As e dey hot! I pray Tammy will be fit to play against his “fatherland”.

Play all those that switched to represent Naija against ENGLAND, (venue: GERMANY.) that match is gonna be a sold out.

    • I will not be happy if NFF continues to beg this boy to play for Nigeria of if he eventually does. LET HIM GO, ABEG! I pray Southgate name him in his squad to play Czech on Thursday so we can lay this back and forth to rest once and for all. Let me see how long they continue to invite him after then. What the big-headed boy doesn’t realise is that unlike France and Belgium, countries like England and Germany have an unwritten quota slot for black players. They don’t field more than 2 (at most 3) black players on the field at once, and currently, that slot is filled by Sterling, Gomez and co. Continue.

@Footballfanatic below, please what’s all that gibberish html codes everywhere nah? You didn’t check before clicking submit. And sadly, CSN does not have an edit button to help you remove/clean it.

I know the pursuit of Abraham is a lost cause the day he scored the second brace in the EPL. I knew straight off that Southgate will be tempted to call him now and the boy conspicuously, lacks that mental toughness to reject a supposed bigger platform England will offer.

While I won’t pray he fails in his new endeavour, he should however know that to remain perpetually relevant, he would have to look beyond the present hype and consider the following:

    1) keep the current scoring streak be perpetually better than the current strikers England provides. A little dip in form could send him to wilderness from where he might never find his way back to the Three Lions.

Pray against injury that may impact negatively on both club and country. With Nigeria, he could always find his way back even when playing for Small clubs. Musa is an example.
