AFCON 2019: Rohr Predicts Tough Draw For Super Eagles

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has predicted a tough draw for his team ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt, Completesports.com reports.

The Super Eagles have been placed in Pot 2 of the draw, which will be staged on April 12 in Cairo, Egypt.

The Eagles are in Port 2 along with Morocco, Algeria, Guinea, Mali, DR Congo after they failed to qualify for the last two editions of the tournament.

Seven time AFCON champions Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Tunisia are drawn in Pot 1.

“We’re number 4 in Africa and I would have expected that we are in Pot 1, but that was not the case and so I expect a tough draw,” Rohr told reporters after the 2nd Aiteo/NFF Football Awards in Lagos.

“It will be a tough tournament, we have a good team, but we have to work to reach the last-four of the AFCON.”

Super Eagles should prepare very well and be ready to beat whichever team they come across. Gernot Rohr is always cautious in press statements. He carried too much caution into the World Cup abd left our team running after their opponents instead of attacking.

Full time sadly Barca 4 Villareal 4. Chukwueze played the game of his life and hopefully Gernot Rohr was watching

  • Nigeria overtakes Morocco and now ranked 3rd in Africa.

As predicted, given the results in the last international games, Nigeria’s two victories over the Seychelles and Egypt, coupled with Morocco’s draw with Malawi and loss to Argentina sees us leapfrog them into third place in Africa.

    .
Our Super Eagles has ‘grown wings’.
Add Moses Simon, Ahmed Musa and Henry Onyekuru into the mix and you will have a clearer picture of what I’m talking about. These eagles sure don’t need red-bull…! Exciting times ahead.
