AFCON 2021: Burkina Faso Target Senegal Upset In First Semi-Final

The Stallions of Burkina Faso will look to create an upset when they take on star-studded Senegal side in tneir semi-final clash at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde on Tuesday .

Kamou Malo’s side started the competition with a 2-1 defeat to hosts Cameroon, but have since recovered and are targeting a place in Sunday’s final at the Olembe Stadium.

This will be the Stallions third appearance in the semis in the past nine years (adding to 2013 and 2017).

And the Burkinabe’s presence at the sharp end of the tournament has an even greater significance given the country’s recent military coup, as explained by coach Kamou Malo.

“I would like to take this opportunity to pay homage to the people who despite everything stay strong,” Malo said after their win over Tunisia.

“I would like to believe our team is the mirror image of those people… we will stay strong in spite of everything. We’re going to try to keep making our people happy. We’re in the semifinal and it is a huge bonus… we’ve given a good account of ourselves and I believe we have the means to go further.”

Can we name all top5 league players in this Burkinabe squad? Lol… Top5 league united. Yet our best striker plays as an Arab contractor… Who no get talent no get. See young Burkinabe defenders and confident play even in their box. Unlike us… their goalkeeper is not Pumpido… a.k.a one shot… One goal.

@tony leave the clown disgracing themselves with their regressive chairmen. Empty barrels makes too many noise.

@jimmyball Why didn’t your tactical genius drop okoye? Please can you enlighten us. Since we’ve all agreed that okoye isn’t good, why wasn’t he dropped? I guess rohr was still the coach. I can see the progress we’ve made so far. Last AFCON edition, 3rd place with an outdated coach. This year, round of 16 with the man guadiola looks up to. We all can’t wait to see how we will be ranked when the ranking are released. A ‘failure’got us to 5th. I believe the genius will take us to 1st

@jimmyball you are one of the most senseless person I’ve come across online. Well, I’ll attribute it to your drinking problem. Even debutants Gambia fared better than us. What a shame. We had the almighty Ndah, awoniyi, umar, olayinka and the incredible Nwakali but made no significant progress.
I hope we qualify for the world cup

I’m following Burkina Faso. They’re playing exciting and efficient football. Anyone between them and Senegal will be my pick for the cup. As they’ve both come close on few occasions, but never took the cup home. Especially Senegal even though their football has been rigid and boring, but it took them to the Semis and possibly the final and the cup. I said Algeria were lucky to scrap past them in the WorldCup qualifiers one useless frog opened his sewage infested mouth claiming Algeria were better Lmao!! Despite playing their away games in Morocco. This is a familiar terrain for the SuperEagles, but our TikiTaka and Sexy/expressive football knocked us out in the round of 16. Lmao!!

*Even though their football was boring and rigid but it took them to the semis* I just love that line.

I remembered ROHRs football when I read that line. Rohr football was only a little rigid but was giving us result. Rohr would have been at the semis and possibly final.

But a no tactical coach exposes Rohr eagles to such a poor outing in Nigerian nations cup history.

I still blame this on senseless, greedy and sentimental fans. The Minister of sport and unstable Pinnick.

I will stick with Eguavoen over Rohr, Eguavoen will only improve but Rohr is a sinking ship.
