AFCON 2021 Qualifiers: Super Eagles Face Benin, Sierra Leone, Lesotho In Group L

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn against Benin Republic, Sierra Leone and Lesotho in Group L of the AFCON 2021 qualifying series, reports Completesports.com.

The three time African champions are the overwhelming favourites to finish tops in the group.

48 teams, and the four that will emerge from preliminary qualifiers, were placed into 12 groups.

The group winners and the second-placed teams will qualify for the AFCON 2021 finals to be staged in Cameroon.

Hosts Cameroon will participate in the qualifiers even as they are guaranteed a spot in the finals regardless of their ranking in the group.

The Super Eagles finished in third position at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt after beating the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia 1-0 at the Al Salam Stadium on Wednesday.

  • Easy peasy. This should be Nigeria and our brothers and neighbours, Benin going through. Hmmm, this time it’s Ghana grouped with SA. Interesting.

Congrats to Coach Rohr on yet another qualification. We’ve learnt our lessons never to underrate any team and am sure we’ll take all the games with all seriousness.

  • relatively easy group for naija no doubt

  • Even without a coach, why would SE not qualify from this group.
Very soon some Rhor-meniacs will tell us there areno minors in African football anymore.

By the way if Rhor refuses to resign, he should be drafted to the under 17 eagles.

We once had the likes of Guinea, Madagascar, Ethiopia, Chad and Tanzania in our group at different times, yet one coach could not qualify us for ordinary AFCON 2ce. LMAO
At least with Rohr, it is sure that even if we have 4 afcon defending champions in our group we will still qualify with a game to spare.

CAF format for this qualifiers is easy to understand but tricky draw for Nigeria. However, the format for the World Cup qualifiers looks abit confusing and will see atleast one or two of the African football giants missing out.
For the Super Eagles, preparations should start now.

It’s the same format used in 2014 WC qualifiets, its no confusing at all. SE just have to be ready for game of their lives.

  • Well easy group for Nigeria if well prepared
