AFCON 2021: Why Super Eagles Will Emerge Champions –Gyan

Former Black Stars of Ghana forward, Asamoah Gyan has disclosed that the Super Eagles stand the chance of winning the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Gyan made this known during the AFCON coverage on Supersports, where he was a guest.

He noted that Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Egypt, shows the determination and fighting spirit within the squad.

“Yes, as of today Nigeria stands out as the team with the will to conquer all oppositions going by what happened in the match against Egypt.

“Every other potential winner of the tournament seems to be playing with too much caution and this explains why most of the matches have not been impressive. But when you look at Nigeria, they showed character of a potential champion considering the way they dominated Egypt all through the 90 minutes.

“Nigeria deserved to score more goals in the match but they were unlucky in the final cut. This was a team that had its pre-tournament challenge as they were unable to have some of their best forwards for the tournament and playing a strong team like Egypt in the opening match was an acid test and they excelled.

“But when you look at how Nigeria imposed themselves on Egypt, other teams are yet to show character and one only hoped they maintained same tempo as the tournament progresses.

Well said GYAN. The Super Eagles squad boast of an incredible and amazing young talents who are ready and bursting with a lot of energies to impose themselves and make a name for themselves. Ghana on the other hand are a shadow of themselves with lethargic and old foes still within their ranks. congrats to super Eagles in advance.

Great analysis from a legend.Personaly I was blown away by the team spirit with which the team boss Eypgt throughout. Same personnel and formation as Rohr but different mind set which depends on the Coach philosophy. Well I think Rohr is a good Coach in terms being able to spot talents but his thinking that unless ur team is made of players playing in Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Mancity u cannot wind a tournament is his achilles heel.

    I agree with you

We should not get carried away by Gyans comment, football is not mathematics, a very good team can lose to an average team with a proper match tactics, they are still many hurdles to cross, favourites sometimes do not win, talking from experience.

Anybody that mentions Rohr team here should bury their head in shame. Against Egypt, Rohr would have lost comprehensively and say we miss Ighalo and Osimhen that was why we lost, but Cerezo took the bull by the horns and WON EVEN WITHOUT IGHALO AND OSIMHEN.

For once Nigerians were proud to see their team win aesthetically. Bug ups Egu and Simon. Rohr almost destroyed that boys career and I ended up calling him a DEFENDER in my previous posts because of the USELESS ULTRA DEFENSIVE TACTICS OF ROHR. Sorry Simon

Did you forget that Rohr beat Egypt 1:0 pre-AFCON 2019? And beats SA who beat Egypt in AFCON 2019 Quarter final. So just because Ogunefon beat Egypt in the first match is not enough to say Rohr was useless.

Let’s thread softly guys and enjoy this cruise while it lasted hoping it will take us to the promise land

Don’t mind that one Dr. Banks. He was always one of those that used to call Keshi gather and play back them on KON Nigeria. All of a sudden the Eguavoen they call let’s fail with our own is now the messiah. Lmao!!! It’s still the same team we’ve known for the last 4 years. Let’s hope they can deliver the goods at the end of the day. From their performance against Egypt though they look like a contender.
