Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire head coach, Jean-Louis Gasset, has given updates about injured Sebastien Haller.
Haller missed the opening game against Guinea-Bissau on Saturday due to injury.
The 29-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker has been struggling with an ankle problem.
Prior to the start of the AFCON Gasset confirmed Haller will not play in the Group A opener with Guinea-Bissau.

However, he suggested there was some hope he would return to face Nigeria’s Super Eagles on January 18.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Gasset said the coaching crew would have to make a decision whether Haller will face the Eagles.
“Haller is recovering well, as well as he should, in his situation.
“We shall assess his progress and make a judgement, on match fitness, at the appropriate time.”
The coach then talked about the Alassane Ouattara Stadium playing turf, which he hoped will be in a better condition for Thursday’s game.
“The pitch was dry on the opening day. I hope we will have a better pitch tomorrow [against Nigeria].”
