AFCON 2023: Ghanaian Fans Vandalise Black Stars Bus After Draw Against Mozambique

AFCON 2023: Ghanaian Fans Vandalise Black Stars Bus After Draw Against Mozambique

Angry Ghanaian fans targeted Black Stars of Ghana team bus and vandalised it, following their disappointing 2-2 draw against Mozambique on Monday.

The Black Stars had high stakes in the game, as they targeted a win to secure a spot in the round of 16.

Ghana went into the break with a 1-0 lead at through a Jordan Ayew penalty.

In the second half the four-time AFCON winners got another penalty which was also converted by Ayew.

This put Chris Hughton’s side in a good position to secure all three points that should have secured qualification into the next round.

However, the Mozambicans ventured forward and pulled a goal in the 91st minute and in the 94th minute got the equalizer from a corner kick, hence shattering Ghana’s aspirations.

In a viral video, the fans vented their anger on the team by smashing windows of the bus which was conveying the players out of the Alassane Ouattara Stadium.

Angry Ghanaian journalists had barricaded the bus in a show of displeasure in the aftermath of the encounter.

In their 2-1 loss to Cape Verde, a fan was arrested for assaulting head coach Chris Hughton.

With this outcome, Ghana’s chances hinge on other results to determine if they can qualify among the best third-placed teams, having amassed only two points.

Surprise team Cape Verde clinched the top spot in Group B, with Egypt securing the second position with three points.

There are no longer minnows in Africa football the reason why prolific strikers like Mane, Mosalah, Zylech and others haven’t done much. Really don’t think it has anything to with Osimhen though he should take whatever is thrown at him as a challenge. Good luck Super Eagles!

    Eyaaah!

Hahahaha where are they? We told them to concentrate on their team and leave Nigeria alone they wouldn’t hear. I knew it that they will not beat Mozambique, bone crushers. Imagine they had 32 fouls Mozambique 10. Did they come to play football or wrestling? Hahahaha Dede Ayew and Ofori conspired to eliminate Ghana imagine winning with 2.0 till 89th mins and still played draw. Some players are not meant to win Afcon as captain. Dede desperately wants to win Afcon his father didn’t win but finally he has come to the end of the road. Drogba did same but as soon as yaya toure took over the captain Ivory coast won the afcon. Dede you are jinxed perhaps the next captain will win it for Ghana. Take heart friends see you in next 2yrs maybe kudus and co can deliver then.

    • Don’t mind them. I asked them to stop eating Banku they wouldn’t listen…..lol. See where it has gotten them

  • Someone (a Ghanaian prophet) correctly prophesied this last week and said Ghanaians started insulting his mother, which made him not to pray to avert the disaster. So has he been proved right or just coincidence?

Before the Nigeria-Guinea Bissau match, one Yeboah said he bet on Guinea to win cos he hates Nigeria. I’m like, waaawuuu, this is another level of hatred not seen before. This one is HATRED in capital letters, underlined, bold, and in billboard font size.

Like how else do you describe WITCHCRAFT??? I hope Yeboah is now flying at night to attend coven meetings after losing all his life’s saving and going broke for the next 600 years. Lol.

He said he’ll be back here after 90 minutes. I’m still looking out for him with a telescope.

YEBOAH. YEBOAH. YEBOAH. Where you among the thugs that attacked the team’s bus???

Bad losers should go to court instead of destroying whatever is left of them after all the next election, sorry, AFCON is not far off.

  • Yetunde 4 months ago

Hehehe, next election. Where that one come from nau? Ghanaians are always bitter losers, lol

  • Hehehehehe where are those wicked Ghanaians selfmade and his brothers I haven’t seen any comment from you people since last night.i said it before that no peace for the wicked.anyway i wish your players save return to their clubs.

  • This is uncalled for.

Ghana fans should control themselves. Afcon failure is not the end of the world. There is another tournament to come in 2 years time. Coach Chris was allegedly assaulted after their penultimate match; now this vandalism, it’s not necessary.

At least Ghana qualified for the Qatar world cup, that triumph should have been enough to last Ghana fans a lifetime.

Also all hope is not lost. Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia can still slip up so that Ghana qualifies.

    Good luck Black Stars.

    • If Gambia should defeat Cameroon to amass 3 points, Ghana will be out. So the fate of the Black Stars is in the hands of Cameroon, Algeria, Zambia and Gambia.

      Miracles do happen!

Hopefully Ghana will be able to achieve what Nigeria has done effortlessly in 3 consecutive Afcons by at least going beyond the group stages. Anyway at least Ghana went to Qatar world cup whilst Nigeria stayed at home.

    • @deo, I remember when Nigeria lost the WC ticket to Ghana in Abuja, the fans took out their frustrations on the NFF and government and vandalized a few properties in the stadium. And that’s the World Cup ticket o, that comes once in 4 years. Much bigger than Afcon.

On more than one occasion in the past year, the SE has lost at home to African minnows, but the fans in the stadium just soak it up and go home. Nigerians will never, ever attack/assault any Super Eagles player or coach physically, no matter the outcome of a match.

      • Kel, these are sobering times for our Ghanaian neighbours. I really feel sad for them. I would have thought qualifying for the Qatar World Cup would have eliminated the agony they are currently going through.

Good luck to them. One love

  • Glory 4 months ago

Yeboah shamefully was praying for our SE to fail. Ummmmmh. Hatred is always self inflicted destruction.

  • Footballfanatic 4 months ago

Even if Naija get knocked out in the next round ..I’m so happy this hating ass Ghanaians got disgraced…Back to back Afcon group stage elimination lol. Ghana football is dead only 2 world class talents = Kudus and Djiku…..The rest are just a bunchbof crap lmaooo

    • Ghana are not out yet. Poor results for Zambia, Algeria, Cameroon might tip the scales in thier favour.

Even Ghanaians know that they have nowhere close to the resources available to Nigeria on a good day. Our third string team – made of the players below – will take Ghana to the cleaners if properly coached.

      Olorunleke Ojo

      Tyrone Ebuehi

      Valentine Ozornwafor
      Jordan Torunariga

      Jamilu Collins

      Samson Tijani

      Kelechi Nwakali
      Isaac Success

      Funsho Bamgboye
      Paul Mukairu

      Josh Maja

Sub: Leon Balogun, Tolu Arokodare, Tom Dele Bashiru, Chukwubuikem
      Ikwuemesi, Anayo Iwuala.

Even these players will qualify from this same group that Ghana struggled.

  • The Banku players must be home by now. Too much Banku is not good for players, it makes them heavy and lazy on the pitch. See what Banku has caused! I can’t stop laughing…..

Selfmade King is the only liberal Ghanaian among them. The rest are deliberate antagonists and prejudices. Yaw is a patriotic Ghanaian football supporter among them but he allows his biased emotions to get over him in the hope of expecting Nigeria to lose. Lmao!!!

Anyway we enjoy your comic relief on our forum. This is an international website even though owned by Nigerians. You guys are welcome to air your opinions freely. Except when you cross the line and we will return it to you wọtọwọtọ. Lmao!! Akwaba back to 1982.

Am surprised my friends has disappeared since last night i kept wondering the kind of agony they are passing through now even the pretender @Monkey may have been hospitalized cos of the shock. I remember saying this is football and not do or die he attacked me so his silence since after the match yesterday has proven that his is do and die. I maintain Ghana is passing through a phase and they will come back stronger but they should watch it Mali is eyeing the next world cup and that is not a goodnews at all.

    • We have not disappeared. We are licking our wounds. Driving back to ghana from ivory coast… but as far as I know those buses were not vandalised by Ghanaian fans. I think angry Ivorians who finished their match before ours did. My car was parked close to a gas station near the buses. I saw the buses vandalised when I came out of the stadium. I almost parked my car near the buses cos I was with the fans throughout the group stage. I even got my tickets through the kind courtesy of the trumpeter of the ghana supporters union, one Milo. Ghana will certainly bounce back. We are Ghana!

      • Well not this time. Cameroon have just scored to lead 3:2 and be on the cusp of knocking Ghana out.

Yaw, at least you went to the Qatar World Cup so take heart. Ghana has only won 1 out of 9 group stage matches since 2019 whereas Nigeria has won 7 out of 9 group stage matches in that period.

Yaw, at least you went to the Qatar World Cup so take heart.

        I wish Ghana well. 🙂

      • Afcon 2025 is in June next year. There is no Tims to lick wounds for too long and if you guys try and improve in rankings, you might be top seed in the qualifiers this year albeit 6 matches between September and November.

That means each group will have 4 teams each, spread across 12 groups wherein 2 would qualify from each group.

Our Ghanaian is up in arms already. Whateva, Better wait till 2031 afcon, not even 2027 than continually destroying a whole ga tribe. See the well packed bus destroyed
