AFCON 2023: I’m Not Under Pressure, My Players Not Playing For Money — Peseiro

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has admitted he is not under pressure despite criticism that has trailed his team’s recent performance.

Peseiro, who is not a popular figure in Nigeria will need to win the title at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to keep his job

The gaffer claimed playing for Nigeria is a huge task and promised that his players will strive to deliver on the pitch.

“To play for Nigeria is not easy, 200 million football fans want to win and we need to answer with good results on the pitch,” the Portuguese told a press conference on Saturday

“I don’t speak about our last results, I speak about how we can improve our results. We create always and we need that balance.

“We will give our best in tomorrow’s game. I’m not under pressure and we will do the best on the pitch ”

Asked if the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has settled his outstanding salaries and money owed the players, Peseiro said that money is not the team’s problem for now.

“Money and bonuses should be the last discussion, we need good results first. We all need money, but money is the last discussion,” he added.

“I don’t discuss my salary and bonuses with the media.”

Words mean nothing but he has spoken well today. I’m hopeful because we are not starting against CIV.

EG plays typical African football like Cameroun. The Eagles has to mark them very well and play with fast break, that is they have to play counter attacking football, close them down in the midfield. The defence has to be very careful here not to commit fouls in the danger zone.

Ahmed Musa needs to be in the starting line up because he is very fast on the ball.
