Team Nigeria’s Esther Joseph on Wednesday won silver in the women’s 400m at the ongoing African Games in Accra, Ghana.
Joseph placed second in a new personal best of 51.61 seconds behind Mary Moraa of Kenya.
Moraa, who is the 800m champion, won the gold after clocking 50.57 seconds.
In what was his second ever 400m hurdles competition, Samson Nathaniel missed out on a place in the final.
Nathaniel ran a personal best of 51.59 seconds which was not enough for qualification in final spot.
He is known as a 400m sprinter and has recently made the switch to the 400 hurdles.
