Former Heartland coach Hassan Abdallah has advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to extend the Super Eagles invitation to Montpellier striker Akor Adams.
Akor, who featured for Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup, has not been considered for the senior national team despite painting Ligue 1 with goals.
However, in a chat with Brila FM, Abdallah stated that Akor’s physicality and power play will come handy for the Super Eagles.

“I scouted Victor Boniface and Akor Adams. Boniface is good because of his height, ball-holding ability, and dribbling, which is why I converted him into a point man,” Abdallah told Brila FM.
“Akor, on the other hand, has more strength than Boniface. He can bully defenders, but his intelligence is 50-50.
“When Akor is played between central defenders, they don’t move forward; they have to wait. I’ve expected them to invite him to the national team because he has been doing well.”
“He has the power, and we need someone like that,” Abdallah concluded.

Instead of inviting players like Akor Adams based on merit they will call some that have become complacent like Iheanacho… Eguaveon should not continue as coach after the two games against Libya. He is just another closet Finidi.
That’s one of the strangest characteristics of Nigerian coaches. It’s all a closed group. No innovation.No taking of risk. Just conservative and othordox in their approach .Eguavoen may be a good coach and may have good intentions. But then the Nigerian factor will make him stick with Taiwo Awoniyi and Kelechi Iheanacho instead of calling up Chuba Akpom, Victor Olatunji,Akor Adams,Tolu Arokodare,Cyriel Dessers,Josh Maja and Elijah Adebayo.
We may even see Terem Moffi,Sadiq Umar or Paul Onuachu being recalled instead of adding one or two new players. They usually adduce team chemistry as the reason for always using the same set of players all the time.
Please any two of Chuba Akpom Akor Adams,Tolu Arokodare and Victor Olatunji should take the places of Taiwo Awoniyi and Kelechi Iheanacho in the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Libya. These four players players are playing in good leagues in Europe and more importantly,they are in form and also scoring goals with effortless ease.
Akor isn’t consistent enough sadly .Before his recent brace he has been on drought for so long..Arokodare plays in Belgium,fair enough he has scored 6 goals but not enough to give him an invite to the super eagles he needs to do a lot more to displace Awoniyi and Iheanacho both established internationals who plays in the best leagues in Europe.
Chubs Akpom yes,Olatunji yes but one out of the two should be considered,players integration should be gradual to maintain cohesion and understanding.
When was the last time Awoniyi played at his club? Iheanacho off-form and there is nothing we don’t yet know about him. On current form Chuba Akpom and Akor Adams…
We have to invite all the best we have to justle for shirts. We need more defenders qnd midfielders.
These set of players doesn’t merit super eagle call.
