Nigeria international, Daniel Akpeyi made his 20th South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) appearance this season for Kaizer Chiefs in a 1-1 draw with Bidvest Wits on Wednesday.
Kaizer Chiefs went into a one-nil lead courtesy of Samir Nurkovic who rose highest in the 36th minute of the game and headed into the bottom corner of the goal, his 12th this term.
A free kick late in the first half led to a goalmouth scramble after Super Eagles shot-stopper, Akpeyi spilled a bouncing effort but somehow the ball stayed out of the Chiefs net.
Wits were denied by a double block from Akpeyi after some slack defending from Chiefs created an opening. Cole Alexander scored a fantastic volley as Wits equalized on 89 minutes.
The match eventually ended 1-1 with Chiefs retaining top spot on the table, enjoying a 4-point lead over Mamelodi Sundowns. Akpeyi has nine clean-sheets in 20 PSL games this season.
Akpeyi has also conceded only 16 goals and has been booked four times in the 2019/20 South African top-flight season which just restarted after the coronavirus pandemic-enforced break.
