Alara Of Ara Kingdom  Appeals To Parents To Support Little League Baseball

Ahead of the West Africa Little League tournament, Oba Dr. Adesola Olubayo Windapo, Alara of Ara Kingdom and League President Alara Little League has reiterated the importance of hosting the tournament, saying it will expose children early to the baseball and softball game.

The Little League Nigeria South West District is hosting West Africa Little League Baseball and Softball Tournament.

It is scheduled to hold from April 2 to 7, 2023 at Igbobi College and CMS Grammar, all in Lagos, Nigeria. The softball will be for girls and baseball for boys.

This tournament will be the first to be supported and approved for international play by the Little League International in the whole of Africa and to serve as a qualification for West Africa teams to advance to Europe and Africa Regional tournament in Kutno, Poland and World Series in the USA in 2023.

Oba Windapo emphasized on the need to expose children to games early, stating that it will also help stimulate the interest of parents and teachers.

“The more our children are exposed the better for them, once teachers and parent get to know about the tournament the more their interest are stimulated.”

Not less than five West African countries have shown interest to participate and the drive to bring in more countries continues.

This tournament will help will put Nigeria as the host on the map of the world as Little League is a global programme enjoyed in all the continents of the world. Several millions of children and their parents are involved in the programme.

It would be recalled that Oba Windapo, who is a traditional ruler in Osun State and a medical doctor, was the sponsor of 2023 Little League Tournament for South West District.

His softball team will also be participating in the West Africa Little League Tournament.
