Algeria To Miss Key Stars For Super Eagles Friendly

African champions Algeria will be without at least six key players for next month’s friendlies against Nigeria and Mexico, Completesports.com reports.

According to africanfootballhq.com Youcef Atal, as well as his Nice teammate Hicham Boudaoui are both ruled out due to injury.

Head coach of the side, Djamel Belmadi will also be without Saudi Arabia-based duo, Djamel Benlamiri and Youcef Belaili, who featured prominently in their African Cup of Nations success last year.

Benlamiri and Belaili refused to return to their respective clubs in Saudi Arabia after the league restarted and are not match fit at the moment.

The duo of Islam Slimani and Adam Ounas are also yet to taste action this season and are unlikely to be invited for the friendlies.

The likes of Mohamed Amine Tougai and Adem Zorgane might get the chance to feature for the Desert Foxes as result of the absences.

The North Africans will take on the Super Eagles on October 9 in Vienna, Austria.

Definitely not gonna be an excuse. All we know is, we going to be playing Algeria, the AFCON Champion.

  • Stiles 3 years ago

We’re also missing key players in Ndidi,Aribo and Leon balogun. So that’s not gonna be a valid excuse.

If balogun regained fitness today,Rohr will call him into the provisional list and start him in the two matches.Balogun remain a key member of the squad.

        • Has Musa ever Regained Form???????????? Why Rohr Keep inviting him?????????? Abegi Rohr is brain dead period

@Stiles Balogun is super fit and is amongst players invited and sure to play. Are you missing something here.

          • Yes Balogun is among the invited players. We’ll miss Etebo, Ndidi, Aribo and Osimhen the like of

That’s not an excuse. Infact you still have Mahrez and Feghouli. Good to hear because I want that Mahrez to witness the Humiliation they are going to get. So if you like miss 10 players, all we know is we’ll beat Algeria the so-called African Champions come October.

  • how are we going to beat algeria without aribo? its impossible.. i dont see any of the 3 supporting osimhen that can do the magic in need time.. only aribo can provide magic.. maybe ejuke.. i dont think we should risk our fifa ranking by playing algeria now..

  • the presence of aribo was making things easier for us against brazil and ukraine.. it make us look like one of the top country.. the effect of magician midfilder is equal to two wingers..

    • @Victor Great now you see the light. so I guess you see the importance of Eze now in that team and Kelechi Nwakali. we need quality in the middle with Ndidi and Aribo out. I see our Midfield being dominated in this one however, I hope I am wrong

  • @ugo iwunze, you are correct.. but please add ejaria our zidane.. ejaria and ebere are the real competitors of the attacki midfield centre.. though nwakal is good, but not up to ejaria and ebere standard.. as for this two northern games, one will make us reduce in fifa rank, bcux we dont have magical attacking midfielder like aribo.. iheanacho can try, but, will the coach play him that position?
