All Nigerian Coaches Should Support Finidi To Succeed As Super Eagles Coach –Ikhana

Onetime Africa Coach of the Year, Kadiri Ikhana, has commended the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, for appointing an indigenous coach to handle Super Eagles and urges all Nigerian coaches to support Finidi George to succeed, Completesports.com reports.

Speaking exclusively with Completesports.com, Ikhana reiterated that Finidi George deserved the appointment having assisted former Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro for about 20 months, positing that he is the best man for the job.

“NFF did well by picking a coach who has done well in our domestic league. Finidi has done well with Enyimba International FC winning the league title last season and putting the Aba elephants in place to challenge again with six matches to go. He has to prove himself again to convince the football ruling body that they made the right choice.

“If Finidi George succeeds, it will be a victory for Nigerian coaches who have been clamouring for the appointment of an indigenous coach for our senior national team. I want to appeal to all Nigerian coaches to give their maximum support to Finidi through advice, prayers and recommendations. His success will open the door for others” the former Super Falcons Chief Coach stated.

Ikhana, a 1980 AFCON winner, said since Finidi single-handedly picked his assistants, he expects them to work in harmony to achieve their goal waving off insinuations that Daniel Amokachi might prove difficult to manage by Finidi adding that Amokachi was a loyal and committed assistant to the Late Stephen Keshi in 2013 when the Super Eagles won the AFCON in South Africa.

“Amokachi will be an asset to Finidi having been there before and being a former teammate in the Super Eagles 1994 AFCON winning team. I am happy NFF allowed the coach to pick his assistants, so no problem. I hope Finidi George will tap into their respective knowledge of the game and put them into teamwork which is utmost here.

“As for the target given to Finidi to qualify the Super Eagles to the 2026 World Cup and 2025 AFCON, it is a fair deal and I believe the new coach will meet these targets with the support of the NFF and Nigerians,” the former Super Eagles’ left-back concluded.

This should be the spirit rather than narcissist comment and hatred for the local coaches. This world is really wicked. I just hope some arrogant players will not sabotage his effort
