Allegri Fires Juve Warning

Allegri Fires Juve Warning

Juventus coach Max Allegri says his side will have to raise their game from the first leg if they are to knock Ajax out of the Champions League tonight.

The quarter-final tie is on a knife edge following a 1-1 draw in Amsterdam last week, when Juve were not at their best and had to settle for a draw despite taking the lead through Cristiano Ronaldo.

Juve are favourites to go through and reach the semi-finals but Allegri is taking nothing for granted and says his side will have to be at their very best. “The result of the first leg doesn’t count for anything,” Allegri told a press conference. “It’s a one-off game and we need to play with the same attitude as we did against Atletico.

“We need to have a lot of respect for Ajax in defence and be precise in our movements. “It will be a physical game.

To counteract their play we need to be technically sound and we’ll have to play better than we did in the first game.”
