Spanish club Almeria have celebrated Sadiq Umar’s maiden invitation to the Super Eagles, Completesports.com reports.

Sadiq was on Tuesday named in Nigeria’s squad for this month’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Benin and Lesotho by head coach Gernot Rohr.

The 24-year-old has been blistering form for the club this season, netting 14 times in 25 league appearances.

“🇳🇬 Our foward Sadiq Umar has been called up to the Nigeria National Team!,” the club tweeted.

“🦅 @NGSuperEagles will play two qualifiers matches for the African Cup of Nations against:

“🇧🇯 Benin 27/3
“🇱🇸 Lesotho 30/3 .”

The former AS Roma striker will look to earn his first cap with the Super Eagles after previously representing Nigeria at U-23 level.

Sadiq was part of the U-23 team that won bronze-medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

He appeared in all six of his team’s games and scored four goals in the process, including a brace in the third-place victory over Honduras.

You dont get 2 opportunities to make a good first impression. Take your chance once it comes. Head to goal once you receive the first ball on your feet…just make sure you at least make the keeper make a save, create a key moment of earn a penalty in the process. Learn from the likes of Onuachu, Nwakaeme etc….The SE attack is too loaded with people waiting for their turns o. If you miss am now e go hard to get another chance again o. I so much have faith in you to tie down a place in the SE with just 1 match. Good luck son…!

@Dr.Drey… I am waiting for you to send out this manner of equally warm prayers and advice to Super Eagles seasoned performers like Olayinka (Aka Hustler) and Junior Oluwafemi Ajayi (Aka Egyptian Knight). I know you won’t because you use one yardstick for Mr A and another for Mr. B. We are beginning to see where you learnt that creed from now… Master Rohr in his latest rule shunting move… hahaha. Porto Novo is waiting… I have just ordered my 3D glasses from Germany and a spare from France… walahi no time to miss “opio” come March 27!

Hahahahah…None of your boys is half as good as Umar……I dont have time for players playing in backyard leagues…any player that is ready to play football should move to Germany, Spain, England, Italy, France or Portugal and go and show he can compete and stand out there. LMAO. Its that simple.
Pls add Telescope to the glasses you are going to buy….that one that was made in Russia that can see Jupiter from earth. You will need it to see the SE flying to cameroon. And better start your fasting and prayer for us to loose early enough. Na 1st come 1st serve dem dey answer prayer for heaven now o.

Finally and finally, i like this guy at the 2016 Olympics. Very tall, resilient and intelligent play. He knows how to put pressure on opponent’s defense, i hope he will seize this opportunity.

  • Almeria celebrates sadiq’s maiden invitation to the Super Eagles. Now they can add National team player to the list, all these will factor in to the huge price tag they will place on him when top teams come for sadiq’s signature next season.
