Former Nigeria international his Daniel Amokachi says he is in support of Odion Ighalo making a return to the Super Eagles.
Ighalo has been touted to make a return to the Eagles after retiring from international football following immediately the 2019 AFCON ended.
His impressive performance for Manchester United in his loan spell has also seen calls for his return to the Eagles.

And Amokachi posited that Ighalo’s quality is still needed in the team.
“Nigerians made Ighalo resign because of the kind of abuse he got,” Amokachi said on his radio programme “Bull’s Pit” on Brila FM.
“He wasn’t pained about the abuse directed at him but took offence when his family was involved.
“This made him come to the decision to resign because he believes his family doesn’t deserve such abuse. He felt why should he sacrifice his life for a country that doesn’t show him love.
“Quality-wise you need Ighalo on the field 120 per cent and by the special grace he will still wear the number nine jersey for Nigeria.”
The former Watford striker’s loan deal at United was recently extended by parent club Shanghai Shenhua until January 2021.
In his first stint, he scored four goals in eight appearances for the Red Devils.

Hmm..There is Fire on the Mountain.
“Quality-wise you need Ighalo on the field 120 per cent…” – Amokachi
Very true. Quality wise, we can’t throw Ighalo away. But my own problem is: Since he used “distance” traveling from Nigeria to China and vice versa as an excuse, what happens when his loan deal now expires with MAN UTD come January??? Will he resign again?
Let’s tell ourselves the truth. Like someone said on Facebook, “Na Lorry abi Tipper abi Train u dey take travel from Nigeria to China?” Sounds funny but it’s true. If you are committed, you are committed. You will be sitted in a First class flight (probably Private jet sef cuz Ighalo is very rich) and you are complaining of distance. So if you are returning for the sake of Present Glory and after a bad game and fans come at you again and you Retire afterwards, you know you are gonna leave this time on a very Bad note. But if you’re returning for the sake of Genuine love for the National team, you’re welcome.

It’s never a good idea to insult a player’s family like Nigerian fans did to Ighalo.
I will like to say a big sorry to this gentleman, Ighalo. I will never do such a thing in my life.
Nonetheless, this is why I will keep saying Super Eagles needed an expert.
Why Ighalo is not the kind of striker we needed in the team presently?
He is not clinical enough in front of goal. Out of ten chances, he can hardly score one or two goals.
This has been happening since he has started playing for Nigeria at all levels. I hate nobody, I’m just saying the truth.
If at all Oga Rohr wants to use Ighalo, good. He can bring him in for 10 to 20 minutes. This will bring the best out of him.
The same thing applies to Onuachu.
Why Onuachu is failing at the national team and scoring for fun at his club sides?
Oga Rohr should be blamed for that. 10 to 20 minutes is good for Onuachu for now and as time goes on, he will pick up the race and prove his worth.
For Ighalo, the gaffer can use him to scare our opponents. Ighalo is an experienced players no doubt but what did he do in Russia if I may ask Oga Amokachi? You can’t give what you don’t have.
If you were not clinical enough during your playing days in the national team, nobody would remembered your name by now period.
Our main strikers now are Osimeh and Desser. How long we have been shouting for Desser’s name? Almost 2 to 3 years if I’m not mistaken. But when God says yes, your time has come, who can say no?
Like I said earlier, is Ighalo and Oga Rohr choice. For me, I think we have seen enough of Ighalo and Akpeyi in the national team.
But if the coach says the services of Ighalo and Akpeyi are still needed in the team, not a problem. He is the one we are going to put the blame on in the end. Life is so simple. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
“….He is not clinical enough in front of goal. Out of ten chances, he can hardly score one or two goals….”
I guess he also had 10 chances before scoring against Burundi, Cameroon (2 goals) and Tunisia to become AFCON top scorer. The Osimhen the is your main striker, the same osimhen that you were telling Rohr to teach how to play like Ighalo, scored his first goal from open play for the SE in his match no 8. It is the same you who will say Ighalo is not the type of striker we need…same you will still come and say rohr should teach the strikers in the SE to play like Ighalo.
