Samuel Chukwueze has been handed a new role by AC Milan’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, Completesports.com reports.
AC Milan held their first pre-season training session under Amorim at the Milanello training centre on Monday, with several notable tactical changes on display, including Chukwueze being deployed in a role similar to the one Amad Diallo occupied under him at Manchester United.
The session was open to supporters, giving them their first glimpse of how Amorim intends to set up the team this season.
Although it was widely expected that Amorim would adopt his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, one of the biggest talking points from the session was Chukwueze’s positioning.

Rather than featuring as one of the attacking midfielders behind the striker, the Nigeria international was deployed on the right side of a four-man midfield in a wing-back role.
The tactical switch is consistent with Amorim’s approach, having previously used Diallo in a similar position during his spell at Manchester United.
Traditionally an attacking right winger, Chukwueze is now being tested in a deeper, more demanding role that requires both defensive discipline and attacking contributions down the flank.
The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Premier League club Fulham, where he scored three goals and provided four assists in 25 games.
