Amuneke Warns: I’ll Fight To Win With Tanzania Even Against My Mother Or Father At AFCON 2019

Tanzania head coach coach Emmanuel Amuneke is upbeat that his side will make a big impact at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, Completesports.com reports.

Amuneke, who was part of Nigeria’s squad that conquered the continent at Tunisia ’94 made history by guiding the Taifa Stars to qualify for the competition after a 39-year absence told ESPN that his Taiga Stars will not fear any big names in African football.

The East Africans finished in second position in Group L during the qualifying series after thrashing table toppers Uganda 3-0 on the final day .

Tanzania have been placed in Pot D ahead of the draw ceremony for the competition which will hold in Cairo on Friday and faced the prospect of being pooled in the same group with some of the continent’s top guns, including Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

Amuneke who was crowned the best footballer in Africa in 1994 insists his side will continue to work hard in the build-up to the tournament.

“I am a professional, and it does not matter even if I am playing against my mother or my late father; I want to win,” the 48-year-old told ESPN.

“And we cannot be afraid of anybody, otherwise we should not be among the 24 teams at the tournament.

“But we will continue to work hard, to improve, to learn from our mistakes and try to do better.”

There we go. This is what I am talking about. This is a man who who wants to achieve something big.

This is a man who have a big dream.
He knows that is team doesn’t have world cup and Afcon experience but still believes he can achieve something big in Egypt.

How about you coach Rohr and his fans? Customer da a da ni as usual abi lol.

I am expecting those that were backing our coaches based on his statements, “my team is young”

Should covered their faces. Super Eagles is going to the Afcon with the hope of crashing out of the tournament in the group stages and NFF were deceiving themselves with our KEREWA, KEREWAWA coaches? Chai, we never appreciates our own.

We need a coach who can talk boldly, consistently and that have guts to tell his troops to go out there to get him the cup.

Sometimes, you have to let your players know that you are serious and determined to win in Egypt.

You took a team to the world cup and still, you don’t have confidence in the team? So, what do you build? Aso rock abi?

Comparing him to coach Amunike who hasn’t been at the world cup and Afcon as a coach yet, still he is talking like this?

Ahhhhhhhhh, mogannò ti yankarè lol. Time will tell with their mind game. Fingers crossed. I wish you the best coach Amunike. God bless Nigeria!!!

Omo9ja so u ar still the same since years, when will you change your mind. You are a notable household name here you hv grown to become a principality but ur mind is still the same (one way thinking). If you are a mentor your mentees will be one eye thinker.

  • @omo9ja don’t mind that loser of a coach. As a Nigerian we will support the team and hope for the best. Inspite of the coach.

  • Having said that statement now automatically made him the tournament winner or the better coach abi? some people and their mediocre way of thinking. So a coach who decided to be humble and lie low doesn’t know what he is doing?. May God deliver us from enemy that doesn’t see any good in whatever ones does

  • can U put ur bet on Tanzania beating the Super Eagle @9ja……?

Imagine Nigeria vs Tanzania as the last two teams standing on the last day of the competition (in my dreams of course).

It will be a win win for us.
