Are The Nuggets Ready For The Next Step?

In their 52 years in the NBA, Denver Nuggets have still to win a Conference title, let alone the NBA Championship. But, looking how things have been going for the team for the last couple of years, it’s not that unrealistic that we will see the Mile High team lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy. The team has proved it can hold its own even against the strongest in the league, but that it still needs some time to garner valuable playoff experience. So, could the 2019/20 NBA season be the breakthrough year for the Nuggets? We’re about to find out.

The Nuggets’ Title Aspirations

Two years ago, the Nuggets missed out on the playoffs in an unfortunate turn of events at the very ending of the regular season. A year later, they grew to become one of the most dominant teams in the league, reaching the Conference Semifinals, and just missing out on the Western Conference finals. This time around, we can expect that the team’s expectations will be even higher. Michael Malone himself said that he wants his players to have a championship mentality, which goes to show that the team won’t settle for anything less than the top prize.

While it’s understandable that every coach will aways talk good about his players, if we take a look at the newest NBA Championship odds, the Denver Nuggets hold a very respectable position as the 8th biggest favorite to go all the way in the postseason. Of course, these rankings are always subject to a change. Plus they are based on the latest information in the league and the teams themselves.

In the case of Denver Nuggets, now might be the best time to place a bet as the odds aren’t likely to drift – except in case of major injuries and internal problems in the team. There are many new betting sites on the horizon that usually offer better deals and loyalty bonuses to new players.

A Young and Promising Squad are-the-nuggets-ready-next-step

Few could disagree with the fact that the Nuggets have one of the best young cores in the league. Aside from Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray as the two most important players in the squad, the team is filled with young and very talented first-team and role players including Gary Harris, Juan Hernangomez and Malik Beasley. Plus, we still have to see how Vlatko Cancar and Bol Bol will perform in the league when given the opportunity. Overall, the Denver Nuggets squad is packed with talent from top to bottom, and it will be exciting to see how the team will perform in the season to come.

There has been much talk about how this young and promising Denver squad gels well together. Last season, the team had played hard night in and night out and competed for every win, no matter the opponent. They are a team with one of the best locker room chemistries in the entire league and determined bunch that has yet to take the league by storm.

What’s also crucial to mention is the fantastic chemistry between the players and Michael Malone. Even though he might not be the best-quality NBA coach available, Michael Malone has managed to build a great atmosphere between all of the players on the roster. This is yet another thing that makes the Nuggets so unique. Although they might not have the best-known or most marketable athletes in the league, the Nuggets’ team basketball is what puts them above so many other teams.

The Weakened Western Conference

The Western Conference was the stronger conference for several decades. But, with the effective breakup of the Warriors Dream Team and the rise of the teams from the east, Nuggest can potentially have an easier route to the NBA finals. Although there are still a few teams that have the firepower to go deep into the postseason, the Nuggets are the only title contender that can boast with a core of world-class young players who also have vital experience of playing very competitive playoff games.

Smart Tactics and Always Making the Right Play

We’ve all heard at least once how small details and making the right plays can make a massive difference between winning or losing. Surprisingly, for a team with so many youngsters in its roster, the Nuggets are a very composed squad and one that more often than not knows how to play massively and build up slowly before making the right pass. Last season, the team got ranked among the most efficient ones in terms of both rebounds and assists. Right from this, we can see that the time knows how to both create second chances and lock up the post when playing the game of basketball. One thing is sure if we take a look at their current squad and their overall age and potential, Denver Nuggets has what it takes to become the most dominant team of the 2020s.
