Aribo, Azeez Battle For Starting Spot Vs Brazil

Joe Aribo and Ramon Azeez are in contention to replace Oghenekaro Etebo in the starting line-up for Nigeria against Brazil on Sunday, Completesports.com reports.

Etebo, who plays for Sky Bet Championship club, Stoke City pulled out of the highly anticipated game on Thursday.

With Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and Everton’s Alex Iwobi already assured of a place in the starting X1, head coach of the team, Gernot Rohr is yet to make up his mind on who will join the duo in midfield.

Aribo scored on his debut for the Super Eagles against Ukraine last month and put up an impressive performance against Andriy Shevchenko’s men.

There is still concern over his fitness following the head injury he picked in a League Cup game against Livingston three weeks ago.

Azeez is back in the team following a five- year abscence. He has been a key performer for Granada in the Spanish League this season.

  • i would pick aribo ahead of azeez..because he would help both defensively and attacking

    I prefer aribo as well to continue with the rhythm of the last match.. Azeez can come in second half

    @Ololo, I dey your side

  • iwobi is not a player oo

  • @Iluwa..that’s true. He’s a Goalkeeper

  • i hate when iwobi play midfield, the lad is like a pregnant woman, cant run or do counter run, cant do his usual trademark…one on one dribble. beside iwobi is the 3rd average player in that super eagle team. behind error ekong and training ground dazzler simon.

    Iwobi is one of the best players in super eagles.. Immediately he was sub against Ukraine the midfield collapsed.
    Presently he was one of the untouchable and despite the fact he appears lazy on the pitch, it would only take someone with a good sporting eye to spot out his contribution.
    I predict iwobi scores against Brazil, when he does score I hope someone here would get a gift for perfect prediction.

    To be honest, our players look young.
