Super Eagles midfielder, Joe Aribo, has revealed that he still feel the pain of the the team’s inability to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Recall that the Super Eagles missed out on a place at the mundial after losing at the playoff stage to eternal rivals, Black Stars of Ghana.
The three-time African champions held the Black Stars to a 0-0 draw in Kumasi but were eliminated on away-goal rule after both teams battled to a 1-1 draw in the return leg at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
In an interview with Southampton’s official website, the Nigerian international stated that he feel unhappy that he could not help the Super Eagles qualify for Qatar.

“I will say probably one of my lowest moments in football, not just because we are not going to the World Cup but in the manner it happened against Ghana,” Aribo told Southampton’s official website.
“Of course, the rivalry, so there is just a lot to take in.”
When asked if his versatility is a benefit to his game, he said “I think it’s a blessing and a curse personally.
“Like you said, I can play in so many different roles so I can help the team but it’s like I’m not really mastering one position but I think for me, it’s good I can help the team in so many different ways.”

Monkey Post your comment is so right, Eguavoen put bad tactic at that match, excluded excellent players at that encounter just like Kevin Akpoguma, Kalvin Bassey, Tyronne Ebuehi, Terem Moffi, Valentine Ozurnwafor, Alhassan Ibrahim, Owen Goodman, Paul Onauchu,cyriel Dessers; Eguavoen could put 3-4-3 or 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 , cause Black Stars have excellent midfielders or they full the midfield , if a team play like this style you must full your midfield to equal their numbers of players in midfield, you could have not played with 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1; Eguavoen has played with 4-2-3-1 with only Osimhen at attacking without any support from other strong striker to unlink the control over Osimhen; tow defensive midfielders are so weak and shaky to cover Ghanian quick attacking and strong shooting from distance by Ghanian midfielders; these factors have led Super Eagles knocked out of World Cup final.
I put the blame of missing the World cup on the Media. The gang up of the Nigerian Media and some ex international on Genet Rohr was horrible. From online Sports journalists to TV journalist to Radio Journalists and some wicked fans. Everyone was calling for Rohr head when it was very clear that it recipe for disaster.When history was against that move yet Pinnick was forced to please the multitude of enemies. And they made the gamble and everything fell like a pack of cards. Worst Nations cup, to World cup non qualifications. Things that Rohr gave us without loosing sleep.
