Arsenal In Search Of Striker; Calvert-Lewin, Isak Are Top Targets

Arsenal are in search of a striker, after various exits and prospective departures from the club in the offing.

The Gunners could be in dire need of a striker come the summer, as Alexander Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah will be out of contract at the end of the season, and Aubameyang has already moved to Barcelona.

Arsenal no doubt will need to bring in a new Striker at the end of the summer.

Arsenal can’t rely on Eddie Nketiah to be their main goalscorer, even if he does sign a contract extension.

According to Express.co.uk, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alexander Isak are two top targets for the Gunners.

However in Folarin Balogun, they have a player who could turn out to be a an excellent player for the club.

Balogun is currently on loan at Middlesbrough. He has been a terrific goalscorer at all underage levels for Arsenal.

Arteta actually started him on the opening day of the season when Aubameyang, Lacazette and Nketiah were unavailable.

Indeed, he looked like a player who was making his first start in the Premier League.

Arteta knew, even with the exit of Aubameyang in January, Balogun had to go on loan to fulfill that vital part of his learning.

After three substitute appearances, Balogun started his first game for Middlesbrough on Saturday and Balogun put on a scintillating display for the club capped with an assist for Duncan Whitemore’s goal in their 4-1 win.

With Balogun’s impressive displays for Middlesbrough, Arsenal could have a player on their hands.

Folarin could even have a similar career path to Harry Kane if things go his way.

Kane had loan spells away from Spurs where he was highly prolific.
Kane was 21 at the beginning of the 2014/15 season which was his first full season at Tottenham.

He scored 21 Premier League goals that season.

Balogun will turn 21 in July which also happens to be Harry Kane’s birthday month,so he will be exactly the same age Kane was in his breakthrough season.

It would be wishful thinking to expect Balogun to return and immediately hit those numbers.

Maybe another loan next season could be on the horizon for the young man.

However, in long term, Balogun could be the answer and could save them millions in the transfer market.
