Arsenal Miss Chance To Go Top After Home Defeat To West Ham

Arsenal suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to West Ham United in the Premier League at the Emirates on Thursday.

This is West Ham’s second win against the Gunners this season after knocking them out in the Carabao Cup on November with a 3-1 triumph.

The defeat means Arsenal failed to return to the top in the league table.

Liverpool remain top on 42 points and are two points ahead of Arsenal.

West Ham boss David Moyes earned his first ever away win against Arsenal in all competitions, on what was his 23rd attempt.

Before Thursday’s game, he had drawn four and lost 18 against the Gunners.

Tomas Soucek gave the Hammers the lead in the 13th minute as he bundled home Jarrod Bowen’s cutback.

Ten minutes into the second half former Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos doubled the lead as he nodded home James Ward-Prowse corner.

At the AMEX, Brighton and Hove Albion defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-2
