Arsenal Reject Everton’s £30m Bid For Iwobi

Arsenal have rejected a £30m bid from Everton for Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi.

The 23-year-old is under contract at the Emirates until 2022. He made 35 Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season, scoring three goals and assisting seven.

However, Sky sources understand Everton are expected to return with an improved offer before the transfer window closes at 5pm on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Everton have ended efforts to sign Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.

It is understood Everton are now considering alternative targets after their second bid of £36.7m was turned down on Tuesday.

However, one midfielder who is expected to be on the move is James McCarthy after Crystal Palace agreed a fee of £8.5m with Everton for his services.

If Iwobi ever decides to leave arsenal,he should never try to join another English team but move to any of the other big four: Germany,Spain,France or Italy. Any attempt to move to another English team will be very damaging to his career. Iwobi’s quality should always be playing in d champions League or at least Europa League.

Absolutely @glory.I would love to see Iwobi in the colours of PSG INTERNATIONALE DORTMUND SEVILLA ATHLETICO MADRID I reckon he has the quality to play in any of the aforementioned teams. And I believe his quality will soar playing outside the UK.

I agree with you on that..

I think it is high time he also step up his game..
    He is never predictable..

  • Not a nice move in my opinion.
He should consider staying back pls

Spot on @ Greenturf. Those clubs you mentioned are a perfect fit for Iwobi.

I hope Iwobi doesn’t move to a smaller club than Arsenal.
I believe if he stays he would keep his place in the team.Sometimes this new expensive players flops and the coaches won’t have any choice other than to go back to the old reliables.
Meanwhile,Nigeria don’t have players in big clubs this days.Iwobi is the only player we can be proud of playing in an elite team.If he moves to a smaller club it won’t be good for the super eagles.
We lost Moses to early retirement a Chelsea player,Mikel left chelsea to the east. This trio were the high profile players whose club pedigree bring fears down the spine of opponents.
Having high profile players brings the fear factor against oppositions. It also help to navigate teams to greater heights for example HAYREZ FACTOR was instrumental for Algerian success likewise RABAR MADJER factor for the 1990 Algerian team.MADJER was a player of fc Porto in the 80’s and early 90’s which were a great team then and Mahrez we all know.ETOO was a Barcelona player when they won the double and Mikel inspired Nigeria team of 2013.Mikel was a Chelsea player.
We can go on and on.
We need to have players in the elite teams because the benefits is glorious.

  • @greenturf he sud go to those clubs you mentioned even when non of them show any interest. hmmmm what an advise! Some people can not stop to amaze me…

@Tayo I said I would like,I didn’t say he should move to those club from Arsenal that would have made been absurd because a club has to show interest first.

  • iwobi should leave arsenal for it devilish fans, mostly paininthearsenal reporters and supporters, a great blindness fell opun them, so the could not see what iwobi is offering.

move to everton will give him the oppotunity to hunt arsenal to regret.

all he need is to remain consistent.

The hatred for Iwobi at arsenal isn’t comparable..
I saw more than 70% of Arsenal’s game last season, the number of times iwobi was instrumental to their attack was immeasurable but still he will get cursed faulted and abused for a simple mistake.

I can count how many times lacazette Aubamayang Guedonzi and Xhaka costed arsenal’s victory in different matches but, any little mistake from iwobi he gets lashed.

My advice, let him move away from arsenal after this season, he has to prove himself that he is not an average player at least for this season..

Maybe the competition will motivate him to stay focused..
