Arsenal Target Espanyol Goalkeeper As Ramsdale Replacement

Arsenal have put an agreement in place with La Liga outfit Espanyol, for their goalkeeper Joan Garcia who is touted as a possible replacement for Aaron Ramsdale.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, on his X handle.

García, 23, is coming off the back of a stellar 2023/24 season, which saw the shot-stopper rack up ten clean sheets across 18 appearances.

His impressive performance in goal contributed to Espanyol booking their spot back in the top-flight of Spanish football.

And such exploits, evidently, did not go at all unnoticed at the as Arsenal have now been reported to be interested in him.

“Arsenal have already reached [a] verbal agreement with Spanish goalkeeper Joan García on personal terms,” Romano wrote.

The Gunners are on the lookout for reinforcements between the posts, with a view to the season ahead.

This comes with second choice Ramsdale considered as increasingly likely to depart, amid widespread interest in the signature of the England international.

And, in the case of as much coming to fruition, the Gunners, it is claimed, have García in their grasp.

An ensuing deal would still require thrashing out with Espanyol. However, owing to the considerable funds at the disposal of those behind the scenes at The Emirates, as much would likely not prove difficult to come by.
