Aston Villa have submitted a €70m bid to sign Senegalese international striker Nicolas Jackson from Premier League rivals Chelsea.
This is according to a report on Tuesday from Foot Mercato (via Yahoo Sports).
The Blues are reportedly on the verge of reaching an agreement with the Birmingham-based club. Still, Aston Villa are yet to agree on personal terms with Jackson. The latter joined Chelsea from Villarreal three years ago.
He spent last season on loan at FC Bayern Munich, with which he logged 11 goals and four assists in 34 games. Jackson is tied with a long-term deal with Chelsea.
The Senegal international is not part of Xabi Alonso’s plans for the season. Jackson scored 30 goals and featured 81 times with the West London side.
Foot Mercato adds that Crystal Palace have turned down a €22m from Aston Villa to sign France international centre-forward Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Unai Emery’s Villa have work to do until the end of the summer transfer window after parting ways with key performers like Lucas Digne, Ezri Konsa, Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers. They have been beaten 4-0 by Brighton in the Premier League opener.
