Aulas To Stick With Lyon Management Pair

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed head coach Sylvinho and sporting director Juninho will remain in their jobs. Aulas has been forced to speak out after the team made it seven consecutive games in all competitions without a win after losing 1-0 against Nantes at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.

Lyon sit down in 11th place in the French Ligue 1 table, with nine points from eight matches, and question marks have been raised about the ability of Sylvinho, who was appointed in May after the departure of Bruno Genesio.
Aulas revealed he has asked respective former coaches Bernard Lacombe and Gerard Houllier for advice, but is ultimately ready to keep faith with his current management set-up.

He told L’Equipe: “Despite our last match, we showed some things (vs Nantes) that suggest we are going in the right direction. We must not forget that we are still at the very beginning of the season. That’s why I found some of the criticism very harsh. “Some believe that the situations of Juninho and Sylvinho are no longer tolerable. I do not think that’s the case.”
