Aussies United Says Paine

Australia captain Tim Paine says his side are united and ready to handle the hostile atmosphere that could greet them throughout the Ashes series. Steve Smith and David Warner, who were banned from cricket following the infamous sandpaper scandal, have already had a taste of what is to come from the English crowds after playing at the World Cup.

The Australians are expecting it to be ramped up a couple of notches during the Ashes, starting at Edgbaston today, but Paine says they will deal with it. “It’s great to be out on the ground. It’s not as great if you’re the person copping the songs, but it’s one of those things,” Paine told reporters ahead of the first Test.

“The guys are looking forward to that. It’s part and parcel of coming here and it can sometimes bind the group and make them even better. “We’ve spoken about making sure we’re driving our own energy, building our own atmosphere out on the ground. If we can do that we know that our own circle is unbreakable.”
