Awaziem, Simon To Start Against Brazil, Aribo Takes Etebo’s Spot

Chidozie Awaziem and Moses Simon will start Nigeria’s friendly encounter against Brazil at the Singapore National Stadium, Kallang on Sunday, Completesports.com reports.

The duo will take the place of Ola Aina and Samuel Kalu who have been ruled out of the game as a result of injury.

Aina and Kalu started Nigeria’s last game against Ukraine at the Dnipro Arena.

Awaziem, naturally a centre-back, impressed in the right-back position at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt following Shehu Abdullahi’s injury.

Zenith Ziva

He is highly favoured to start ahead of Abdullahi against the South Americans.

Simon, despite the impressive performance of Club Brugges’ Emmanuel Dennis , will occupy the left-wing position.

Glasgow Rangers of Scotland midfielder, Joe Aribo will take the place of Oghenekaro Etebo, who pulled out of the game due to personal reasons.

  • Is high time we show brazil that Africa has come of age football wise. we’ll beat them hand down. Iwobi will score first and chukwueze will seal our two nil victory.

    • Ho la laa! I can see the ducks coming for ya. But good, you didn’t even mention the lethal Osimhen ……..sim—he—nnnnnnnn  as the boxing announcer would have said.

  • @ sani sadi Ali.. i hope so oo,only if our defence and goal keeper do not make school boys errors. if the do,bros! “we go collect wella”

  • Etebo not part of this team is still a great fear for me. I pray God to smile on Super Eagle today and favor us in Jesus name. Amen.

  • Moses Simon is an obvious starter for me in a match like this.

It is a no brainer: the team needs a solid (if admittedly unspectacular) winger in a match like this.

One that will track back to support the defence.

One that will keep it simple with effective short range passes.

One that will not play to the gallery.

    One that will retain possession.

One that will not attempt aimless dribbles.

One that can deliver beautiful corner kick.

I present you: Moses (the modern-day winger) Simon.

  • @deo. Wetin u see for this simon body. A player that always make errors up front. No striker doesnt complain him . Ideye did against zambia in world cup qualfiers. Ighalo always disagree with him. Simon disicions can not be easily predicted by any striker. I will advice rohr to push iwobi to that wing and ramon azziz can help aribo and ndidi defensively. If u doupt me to wahala after the match i go ask u of simon.

  • I meant to say no wahala
