Awoniyi: I’m Happy To Be Alive

Taiwo Awoniyi says he is happy to be alive after suffering a concussion during Mainz’s Bundesliga home clash Augsburg earlier this month, reports Completesports.com.

The Liverpool loaner clashed heads with Augsburg defender Felix Udoakhai 17 minutes into the encounter and lost consciousness before hitting the ground.

Awoniyi states that luck played a huge part in saving his life, according to his doctors.

“The doctor told me it’s really strange,” Awoniyi told ESPN.

“They said the way I was coming down, I should [have gone] down with my head. If I had gone down directly with my head, it would have been a different story.

The doctor told me I was talking on the pitch but I didn’t know I was talking. He said when they tried to wake me up I was telling them I’m okay and I still wanted to play.

“But I didn’t know I was saying that. I don’t remember that.

“When we got to the hospital before I regained consciousness, they were lifting me up and that was when I realized I wasn’t on the pitch anymore.”

Lolzz. @ Oakfield I understand your point. Just a case of when you feel someone is letting you down. Awoniyi just have to start realising other talented strikers are becoming 18, 19, 20, 21 years n so on. He just need to focus purely on his football n back off the media.

Exactly @glory. Have u ever seen chukwueze or osimhen blabbing all the time on the media? If he were osimhen that’s about signing for napoli he’d just be all over the media singing like a sparrow. He needs to shut uo and focus on his career.

… What’s wrong with the interview? You guys should give some of these boys a break! He could have been dead by now… Don’t you think he is being emotional and thankful to God by this interview? Is it a bad thing? However some of you want to chasetize him for openly declaring he is eager to receive a callup to SE… It’s nothing bad… He is a top player that’s whatsup!

Maybe be you’re the talkative type just like him, thats why u don’t see anything wrong with it. Osimhen is about signing for Napoli but have u heard pim from him? Before he was called up to the eagles did u hear pim from him? Nah, he just did his part on the field and the media did the rest for him automatically without him granting needless interviews and he was called up to the se. He needs to stay off the media and focus, focus, focus!!!!!
