Awoniyi Makes Premier League Team Of The Week

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been included in the official Premier League Team of the Week.

The Team of the Week was selected by legendary England and Newcastle striker Alan Shearer and published on Premier League’s Twitter handle.

Awoniyi bagged a brace in Nottingham Forest’s 4-3 win against Southampton in the Premier League on Monday.

He gave Forest the lead in the 18th before adding the second goal in the 21st minute.

This season he has scored six goals in 24 appearances in the league for Forest.

Others who also made the Team of the Week are Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan, Arsenal duo Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale and Fulham’s Willian.

The win against Southampton took Forest to 16th place on 33 points in the league table.

The second Awoniyi goal. Splendid finish.

Thumbs up Pompeiman. With Awoniyi and Chuba Akpom, Nigeria’s attack is sorted. Osimhen will come in the second half.

      • …With that Politician Jose Poseiro, I doubt if he will ever invite Chuba Akpom. There are certain body language in the NFF higher-ups that tells me certain players are being maligned and precluded from invitations, while others are into the business of paying for squad invites. Chuba Akpom, Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Victor Boniface and Gift Orban… those are the lads that Nigeria should have near Super Eagles attack.

…I personally feel Poseiro has nothing to offer Nigeria and Super Eagles in coaching. The man is worse than Gernot Rohr. Inviting a non-league player in Daniel Bamaiyi of Yum Yum FC, imagine inviting a player from Portugal’s 3rd division to their national team, just like Rohr made a German Regional Liga goalkeeper in Maduka Okoye our number 1.

…We sidon the look Mr. Poseiro!

        • Ji Umar Sadiq when fit is probably the Second best Attacker we have in terms of Striker position, just watch and see the boy is talented. I feel he is even more talented than Awoniyi, Gift Orban should be our Number 10 player.

          • @Ugo Iwunze… I see your point of view. He was injured for a long time, once he is fully fit and hitting his old numbers again, for sure he falls back into to the conversation.

But right now, we need to begin to test players like Chuba Akpom, Orban, Boniface and the likes who just burst unto the scene. Once we have friendlies and inconsequential games, it will be good chance to check these new ones out. But Chuba Akpom for sure is right at the front of the line considering his new levels and even playing as genuine attacking midfielder!

Meanwhile,Senegal are playing to a very great degree like Manchester city.Their level of maturity and mastery of the game is unbelievable for childlike players.
I am impressed by these amazing Senegalese quality players.
Nigeria is not as organised as Senegal.

That Senegalese team is solid and yet to concede just like their U20 earlier this year….Their No 10 plays like a little Saudi Mane lol

        @Footballfanatic,they’re quite good,aren’t they?
Meanwhile, matches are, more often than not,won or lost through fitness, organisation, dicipline and desire. We aren’t as organised and disciplined as Senegal the reason we concede goals some of them which are avoidable.
It all about getting back to the basics, the blocking and tackling fundamentals to build readiness attention to details, you give the coaches credit for a fantasic job in all spheres of developmental stages,Senegal have proved to be extraordinary, they’re extremely good, excellent.
It seems their coaches are at a different level because their teams at all levels have displayed high standards which are contagious.

Looks like Senegal aiming for a 4th or 5th continental title

      Afcon under20

      Chan champions

      Beach Soccer champions

      Afcon men’s senior champions

And I believe there still one trophy I am missing..
