Victoria Azarenka is looking forward to renewing her rivalry with Serena Williams in the second round at Indian Wells on Friday.
The Belarussian world number 48 overcame compatriot Vera Lapko 6-2 6-3 to secure her place in the second round, while 10th seed Williams received a first-round bye.
Williams leads the head-to-head 17-4 and Azarenka hopes she can reduce the deficit when she comes up against her fellow former world number one in California. “Of course it’s going to be a very special match for us,” she said, as reported by Sport 24.
