Nigeria midfielder, Ramon Azeez will be seeking his first LaLiga new season opening day start when his club, Granada host Athletic Bilbao at the Estadio Los Carmenes on Friday night.
Azeez, a former Nigeria junior international, will be marking his fourth season in LaLiga when the season begins this Friday, and the midfielder made a 69th minute substitute appearance last season for Cameroun star, Brice at the El Madrigal where Granada scored twice in six second half minutes to force a 4-4 draw against their host, Villareal.
Prior to that, Azeez spent his first two seasons in the LaLiga with Almeria, but he was not dressed for the club’s opening day fixtures in August 19, 2013 and August 23, 2015 respectively.
Almeria lost 3-2 to visiting Villareal in August 2013 at the Alfonso Alvarez Izquierdo, but the Nigerian did not get to feature in the LaLiga until matchday three when Almeria drew 2-2 with Elche. The following season, Azeez was missing again in the club’s opening day game. He however made the bench in the second game but helplessly watched at the Santiago Jaime Latre where Almeria were pipped 1-0 by Getafe.
This term,Azeez will be hoping for his first opening day start following his impressive run for the club last term which ensured they finished seventh on the log.
The Super Eagle started 14 of the 25 games he featured in last term, scoring twice with both goals coming in September 2019 and against sides from Barcelona viz Espanyol and FC Barcelona.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
