Baddeley Holds Slender Puerto Rico Lead

Aaron Baddeley will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Puerto Rico Open after a third-round bogey free six-under-par 66. The 37-year-old Australian is looking to secure a first tour win since the 2016 Barbasol Championship and fifth of his career overall.

And he sits in a strong position ahead of Sunday’s action after starting his third round with back-to-back birdies and he then picked up further shots at the fifth, ninth, 11th and 15th.

Baddeley is on 12-under 204 after 54 holes at Rio Grande ahead of the final round with American Nate Lashley a shot behind in second and his compatriot Martin Trainer another shot back.

Looking ahead to the climax on Sunday, Baddeley said: “My game has been in a good spot for a while. It’s a good start to the year. I hope to keep building on it on Sunday and see what happens.”

Lashley added: “Hopefully on Sunday I can control my nerves and win the golf tournament. “I’m making good putts, driving it real well. I just have to do everything solid.”
