Balogun Hails Rangers Duo After Impressive Win Vs Aberdeen

Leon Balogun reckons Connor Goldson’s constant yapping is music to his ears.

Rangers’ new defender savoured his opening Scottish Premiership experience with an impressive performance in his side’s 1-0 win at Aberdeen, courtesy of Ryan Kent’s first-half strike.

Balogun was even given a round of applause by his team-mates in the dressing room after the full-time whistle for slotting in so easily.

But the 32-year-old was quick to acknowledge the huge part played by his partner at the heart of the backline.

Goldson had warned Balogun prior to the kick-off in the Granite City that he’d be nipping his lugs throughout and was true to his word.

But Nigerian Balogun loved it as it helped him fit instantly into the workings of the Ibrox defence.

He said: “He is a great talker on the pitch. He told me before the match and I welcome that because I will need some time to get used to the mechanisms.

”But it’s been great with both of them [Goldson and James Tavernier] and Borna [Barisic].

“They have helped. They took me to the side a lot, so I was able to adapt quite quickly.

“We were happy with the win. Obviously, it was my welcome to Scottish football and it couldn’t have gone any better.

“The second half was maybe not the way we wanted the game to be, but we were happy with the clean sheet.”
