Balogun Thrilled To Be Back On The Pitch For Brighton In Win Vs Bristol Rovers

Nigeria defender Leon Balogun is excited to be back on the pitch for Brighton & Hove Albion after playing a key role on the club’s Carabao Cup victory against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday, reports Completesports.com.

Balogun last featured for the Seagulls in an Emirates FA Cup win against West Bromwich Albion in February.

The 31-year-old has failed to make the bench in the Seagulls opening three Premier League games this season.

The former FSV Mainz of Germany defender took to the social to express his happiness on playing for the club again.

“Great feeling to be back out there with the lads and get that win. Onto the next round ⚽️;, Balogun tweeted.

Brighton will host Aston Villa at home in the Third Round next month.

Balogun will hope to make the matchday squad for the first time in the Premier League on Saturday when Brighton host champions Manchester City.

Quality player. Just praying this guy stay injury free, so he show that really good quality defender he is. God bless Balogun. Your trying moment surely gonna work in the positive for you.

I agree 100% that Balogun is a good defender. He has this commanding presence when he plays for Nigeria. And he has performed well against some of the best forwards in the world. He stood his ground against strikers like Messi, Aguero, Lewandowski, Kane, Sterling, Mandzukic, Mahrez, etc. Together with Ekong, we’ve had one of the best central defense partnerships ever. The only one I rate higher than them is the Okechukwu-West combo, which to me is the best we’ve ever had. So, why o why is Balogun in this mess at B&H? Nowadays, he doesn’t even make the bench! How is it that a World cup player is considered not good enough at a premiership club that was almost relegated last season?
