Balogun Urges Wigan Teammates to Brace Up For Reading Clash, Eyes 3rd Consecutive Start

Leon Balogun has urged his team-mates at Wigan Athletic to be ready for whatever Reading come up with when the two clubs meet in Wednesday’s SkyBet Championship game at the Madejski Stadium, Completesports.com reports

The Super Eagles central defender made his second league start in a SkyBet Championship encounter which saw Wigan pick up a 1-0 win over visitors, Millwall last Saturday.

And not only did Balogun make the starting line-up, the German-born Nigerian centre-back went on to see out the whole duration of the game at the DW Stadium.

Speaking on Latics TV after his first victory and first home start in a Latics shirt, Balogun said that he and everyone of his teammates must ‘trust in the process’.

“The next challenge comes on Wednesday and hopefully we can step up to the challenge against Reading like we did against Millwall.

“I got my full debut last weekend, but it was away, so to introduce myself to the club and the Wigan family in this manner, it’s nice, it feels good.”

Yes and it does feels good to see you back on the pitch playing.
Though i would say sarcastically,it is weird to see you playing haha. That’s very unusual Balogun playing?psml. This is coming at a time we have gotten used to him not playing football.I would say this is the most cheering news for the super eagles fans in the new year.
It would be interesting to know if you have done well enough to be considered for internationals late next month.
However,I would love to see you back in the super eagles, only your absence has helped in leapfrogging some players who have developed and filled the vacuum you left in the heart of the super eagles defence.

    • He made AFCON with playing only one match in all of 2019. I hope he gets game time today, he seems to have done enough to warrant another starting place for Wigan. Its likely he gets picked, we will need a strong defense with Ndidi likely to be out. I’d wager on Leon, Troost, Awaziem, Omeruo and Semi Ajayi to be 5 central defenders getting the call up. Semi to cover for DM and Awaziem probably Right back and Ola Aina at leftback. That is if Ola is Called up with the Corona virus shutting down football in Milan and Torino.

back to todays match, I’m hoping to see leon balogun and Ovie Ejaria go head to head
