Barcelona presidential candidate Pere Riera says the club is bigger than captain and superstar Lionel Messi.
Riera has announced his decision to succeed Josep Bartomeu following the latter’s resignation.

“In my opinion, Messi has to stay at Barcelona and not with history,” Riera told Radio MARCA. “It’s not good for anyone.
“In the end, it’s Messi who decides [his future]. I very much doubt that Messi wanted to leave Barcelona [in the summer].
“I wouldn’t pull out all the stops for Messi.”

When you talk too much you talk yourself into a pit. Someone should advice this one not to waste his money as he has started on the wrong note. Anti Messi wiilll fail him. No Messi, no modern day Barca. No mercy for anyone against Messi.
No tree can make up a forest. No player is bigger than a club. Mr. Messi is incredibly talented. But he is just one player. To say NO MESSI NO MODERN DAY BARCA is nonsensical. By himself, he can’t accomplish anything. He needs his team mates and others to contribute their quota.
Instead of getting involved with club politics and internal wranglings, Mr. Messi can make much better use of his time concentrating on his job – helping Barcelona win football matches. Else, Mr. Messi will find himself in a big mess.
