Batshuayi Set For Chelsea Stay

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen to keep hold of striker Michy Batshuayi, who could have a key role to play for the Blues this season. The 25-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge appeared to be up after he was shipped out on loan to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace under previous regimes.

It had been suggested he could be loaned out again this season, but Lampard is short of striking options and has other ideas for the Belgium international. The departures of Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain means there is place vacant in attack and Batshuayi will battle with Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud for a place in the starting line-up.

Batshuayi, who has bagged 19 goals in 53 appearances for the club, is under contract until the summer of 2021 and now looks set to be handed a fresh start. He also scored five goals in 11 Premier League appearances for Palace in the second half of last season and will be hoping to carry such form into the new campaign.
