PSG defender Juan Bernat is relishing the prospect of facing Inter Milan on a pre-season trip to China. So far, the French champions have played Dynamo Dresden, comfortably beating them 6-1, then they played out a 1-1 draw with Nurnburg.
Now their pre-season preparations are set to step up a gear as they travel to China to face Inter Milan in the first of two pre-season friendlies in the country, before facing Australian A-League side Sydney FC. New signings Ander Herrera, Pablo Sarabia, and Abdou Diallo are set to be heavily involved in the games, while Neymar is with the squad but his future remains up in the air.
Left-back Bernat says that while the intense physical nature of pre-season is not enjoyable, he is looking forward to playing the two games. “They (Inter Milan and Sydney FC) are two good tests. The first against a very big European club in Inter Milan and then another against Sydney FC, before the Trophée des Champions against Rennes. I hope it will be the perfect way to start the new season,” he told the club website.
“It’s always the most difficult, least enjoyable part of the season. It’s very demanding, especially after a few weeks of holidays without training, even if we all try to stay in shape. “It’s really tough, with a lot of running, with and without the ball. We have been back in training for two weeks and the team has been working very well back in Paris and now we will fine-tune this here in China.”
