Sheffield Enter Race For Killie Defender

Sheffield United are one of a number of English clubs said to be interested in signing Kilmarnock full-back Stephen O’Donnell. The 27-year-old has established himself as an integral part of the Killie squad over the last two seasons and his form in the Scottish Premiership has also enabled him to become a regular at international level with Scotland.

O’Donnell’s performances now appear to be attracting attention from south of the border, with Sheff United said to be interested alongside Championship clubs Stoke, Derby and Middlesbrough, as well as Scottish giants Celtic. Blades boss Chris Wilder is keen to add more defensive options to his squad as they prepare for their return to the Premier League and United may have an advantage in the race given they can offer O’Donnell top-flight football.

It is unclear at this stage whether O’Donnell is actively seeking a move away from Kilmarnock, although he is into the final year of his contract at Rugby Park, so Killie could be tempted to cash in if they receive a suitable offer.
