Boniface Breaks 29-Year-Old Bundesliga Record

Victor Boniface broke a 29-year-old Bundesliga record in Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-1 win against Heidenheim at the BayArena on Sunday.

The Nigeria international is the player with most shots on goal (36) after five rounds of games in the history of the Bundesliga.

Former Bochum forward Uwe Wegmann previously held the record ( 25 shots on goal) during the 1994/95 season.

Boniface netted twice against Heidenheim to continue his impressive scoring spree for Xabi Alonso’s side.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old refused to attach any importance to the record, claiming he would have love to score more goals for Die Werkself.

“If you have 38 shots on goal as a player, you should have scored at least 25 goals. So I don’t want to congratulate myself on that,” he was quoted by Bild.

Boniface has recorded eight goals and three assists in seven games across all competitions for Leverkusen.

This is the mentality other Nigerian players should learn to have not a mediocre mentality. I mean for a 3rd highest goal scorer to be talking like that.
