Bosso Gives Conditions Before Inviting Foreign-Based Players To Flying Eagles

Flying Eagles head coach Ladan Bosso has explained the conditions foreign-based players must meet before breaking into his team.

The Flying Eagles were recently crowned WAFU Zone B champions after defeating Benin Republic 3-1 in the final last Friday in Niger Republic.

For qualifying for the final, the Flying Eagles and Benin Republic will represent the WAFU Zone B at next year’s U-20 AFCON in Egypt.

Also, the tournament in the North African country will see the four teams pick the ticket for the 2023 U-20 FIFA World Cup in Indonesia.

And speaking on the condition before players outside the shores of Nigeria must meet before breaking into the team, Bosso said on Brila FM:“No matter whether foreign or wherever you are coming from, if you are coming to add value to this team then you are welcome.

“The most important thing is that before you can come into this team, you must be able to beat the person playing in that position otherwise you have no place. The more we stay together the more we blend.“

Bosso was in charge when the Flying Eagles crashed out in the group stage of the WAFU Zone B tournament in Benin Republic.

The team made this time as they beat bitter rivals Black Satellites of Ghana 2-0 in their opening Group B game.

In their second group fixture, they were forced to a 2-2 draw by Burkina Faso before edging Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 after extra-time in the semi-finals.

But please, NFF must help him keep the players together long enough in camp by in anyway possible, preventing anyone of them, jumping to all kinds of foreign leagues, up until after the world cup. IT IS ABOUT TIME NIGERIA WON THE UNDER 20 WORLD CUP.

Better invite foreign players that are of genuine age in the even any of those players get screened out on age grounds

These bush coaches will never learn. As soon as the home-based lose a few matches we see a mass recruitment of foreign-based. Bosso should remove dust from his eyes and prejudice from his heart and go for the best fit in a team. It doesn’t matter if its home or foreign-based.

    • Are you sure you read the write-up? Bosso said whoever is coming must be able to displace the person playing his number. Try and read again.

God bless @ Chima. To be honest, Bosso proved everyone of us his doubters wrong; just how we want to see every other coach including the in coming Peseiro do. This team is solid n looks every inch capable of winning the main Cup with probably three or four top grade, talented additions like Tai Sodje etc to make the team very competitive. Our goal should be to go win the world Cup, though as Bosso said, we have to take it one game after the other. The goal keeper and that captain have both impressed me the most, not taking anything away from others like Daga, ojo, Ibrahim, the guy that scored our second goal against Ghana etc. NFF MUST UNDERSTAND THAT WINNING THE U-20 CAN ERASE THE PAIN OF LOSING OUT QUALIFYING FOR THIS YEARS SENIOR WORLD CUP.

Honesty has always been their problem, but I doubt if he will be honest enough to select the best legs for the nations cup talkless of world cup. He knew we were alert on him even coach Godwin Uwa was beating the same drum with us. Let us see what he will select for the U20 Afcon then we’ll know what he will do at the world cup. Best of luck to him…..

  • You do not have a continental beaters yet all you have done is qualify for the African tournament, so it is not yet uhuru and as a result it will be premature to shut the door on new talents from home or abroad. Your team does not have good midfielders and it showed when we played against Burkina Faso even Ghana. You should scout for the best legs around the country and please stop using wazobia as a basis for selecting players because there are a lot of areas in Nigeria that are unrepresented in wazobia and these areas were known to have consistently produced great footballers for Nigeria in the past but are always left out today because these areas does not fall within wazobia areas in Nigeria. Just for the sake of emphasis – EDO / DELTA, CALABAR/AKWA IBOM, JOS

Bosso that invited a foreign player that has only played only 4 matches in one year at Lithuania. Yeye man

  • Good talk but please we do not need old men as under 20.Firstly stick to the age bracket. John Obi Mikel lasted because he was within the age bracket when he started with the under 17. There are too many players missing in between junior teams and senior level because of their age cheat.Let all within the age as long as they are Nigerians come but you as a coach must stick to your criteria for being selected.
Cutting off players because you won the regional tournament is like being a clogg in your own wheel of progress.Right know Nigeria has very talent pool of foreign based male under 20 players spread across the globe. So it will be detrimental taking decisions out of sentiment, ego and personal image selfie.
    Goodluck.

This right philosophy we should want in Super Eagles team in order to make it playing collective or total football matches; Bosso is a successuful coach who puts a cart in front of the horse; so he can make this team to win the World Cup U 20 if he gain a helping from NFF and the fans; Peseiro must imitate Bosso footsteps in order to creat formidable Super Eagle team.
