Bouchard Believes She’s On Upward Curve

Eugenie Bouchard has her eye on getting back into the top 10 in the world rankings this year. The Canadian star is currently ranked 73rd in the world and appears to be on an upward curve again after struggling to find her best form in recent years.

The 24-year-old reached the semi-finals of the Luxembourg Open in October – her best performance in a WTA event since getting to the 2016 Malaysian Open final – and she has impressed so far in 2019.

Bouchard got to the last eight of the ASB Classic in Auckland in January, while she tested world number two Simona Halep in last week’s Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, narrowly losing in the second round 6-7(4-7) 4-6.

Bouchard, whose best performance in a Grand Slam tournament came back in 2014 when she was the beaten finalist at Wimbledon, says she is positive about the rest of the season and believes she can continue to improve.

She said: “I felt really strong in my last couple of tournaments and it was nice to reach a semi-final at the highest level again, I know how to be a top 10 player and I feel like I’m doing all the right things to reach my goals in 2019.”
