Cherries Target Hints At Summer Move

Reported Bournemouth target Sammie Szmodics has not ruled out the possibility of leaving Colchester United this summer. The highly-rated 23-year-old scored 15 goals chipped in with seven assists for the U’s as they just missed out on a League Two play-off spot despite beating champions Lincoln City 3-0 in Saturday’s final game of the season.

Szmodics’ progress has alerted several clubs with a number of Championship sides believed to be weighing up a swoop when the transfer window opens for business. Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is a big believer in bringing emerging young talent to the Vitality Stadium and reports suggest he could join the race.

And, when Szmodics was quizzed about his future, he refused to dismiss a possible departure after spending 16 years with Colchester. He told the East Anglian Daily Times: “It’s football, and no one knows what is going to happen. “It’s been a fantastic 15 or 16 years for me at Colchester.

I’ve got a summer to look forward to now, and a break from everything. “Then I’m sure my agent and the people at Colchester will be working hard to come to some agreement. “I will have two or three weeks break from football before I start my plan. I will have to see where I will be doing my pre-season, whether that be at Colchester or elsewhere.”
